Areas of Interest

Structure and structural modification of polymer systems, in particular systems that are under the influence of severe environmental conditions are being studied by Dr. Fornes. Polymeric materials of interest include polymer coatings, cross-linked epoxies, linear polymers, polymer blends, polymers formed from anisotropic solutions and fibrous composites. Experimental investigations include the use of wide-angle and small-angle X-ray diffraction, NMR, ESR, Differential Scanning Calorimetry, XPS, and optical and electron microscopy techniques.
