Chandra X-Ray Observatory Fellowship: The Chandra X-Ray Center invites applications for the Chandra X-Ray Observatory Fellowship. Fellowship awards for 2005 are open to applicants of any nationality who earn doctoral degrees between January 1, 2002 and September 1, 2005 in astronomy, physics, or related disciplines.

Advisory Committee. We're pleased to announce that Thomas Schaefer will be the new advisory committee member, taking Chris Roland's place for a 3 year term. He will serve with the other elected members Lubos Mitas and Hans Hallen, and ex officio members Michael Paesler and Charlie Johnson. Feel free to discuss any issues you may be concerned about with any members of the committee.

Moving on. Best wishes and congratulations to Diane Markoff, who begins a tenure track position at NC Central University this fall. Diane will continue to collaborate with NC State through work at TUNL and the SNS at Oak Ridge. Diane was the lead person in the NC State KamLAND effort. The Physical Review Letters on the neutrino flux deficit from nuclear reactions now has 654 citations in the SLAC SPIRES database.


State Employee's Combined Campaign.

The annual State Employee's combined campaign is here again! The donation forms will be distributed in your mailbox soon. Participation is voluntary, but this is a great way to support your favorite charities, so please consider a contribution this year.

North Carolina State Fair!

The 151st NC State Fair will be at the State Fairgrounds just past the College of Veterinary Medicine and the University Club, running from October 15th to 24th!
