Building designation change (again!).
The building formerly known as the USTL, and known this semester as MAF, will, starting in next semester (Spring 2005), be officially designated FOX.
Recent and Upcoming Travel:
Joshua Beun recently attended the RIA Summer School at Argonne National Labs, and gave a student talk on his research.
Ruth Chabay and Bruce Sherwood were invited speakers at four conferences:
The Gordon Conference at Mt. Holyoke College, on research and education in classical mechanics;
The annual conference of the South African Institute of Physics in Bloemfontein,
The International Conference on Physics Education in Durban, South Africa, whose theme was "What physics should we teach?",
and the American Association of Physics Teachers summer meeting in Sacramento, where they also gave workshops on Matter & Interactions and on VPython.
As a bonus they had a wonderful safari in Kruger National Park in South Africa.
John Hubisz, to the National AAPT Meeting in Sacramento, where he met lots of colleagues including several from NC State that he hadn't seen in a while!
Also to Winston-Salem State University as an external evaluator for an NSF grant.
