Working with Students with Disabilities: Statement of compliance on Course Syllabus: The University has a set of required information that must be included on a course syllabus. Part of this required information is a reference to the University Policy on Working with Students with Disabilities. This policy is available on-line at: www.ncsu.edu/provost/hat/current/appendix/appen_k.html
Faculty members should make an announcement, at the beginning of the semester, inviting students with disabilities to schedule an appointment to discuss academic accommodations. In addition, faculty should also place a statement in the syllabus informing students with disabilities to schedule an appointment. If you have not included a statement on your syllabus, please indicate in class that you intend to fully comply with the University's policy.
The entire list of requirement for syllabi is available on line at www.ncsu.edu/provost/academic_regulations/syllabus/reg.htm
Special needs students in your classes may require a separate room for tests and exams. You should have been notified in writing by DSS if this is the case. The Department office will work with you to arrange the appropriate accommodations. Contact Rebecca Savage.
Department Travel Restrictions: Due to budget constraints for the coming year, travel on Department funds will be extremely limited. Contract and grant travel is not affected, and we will continue to cover travel for visitors for the colloquium series. However effective immediately all non-essential Department travel is frozen through the end of the calendar year 2001.
New Department Web Site. We are close to bringing up a new Department webs site. Thanks to Michael Robertson, Ben Tomlinson and others who have been involved. There is still much to do, however if you would like to assist in the final stages of debugging, proofing, etc..., please contact Robert Egler or John Blondin. Roll out is set for early September.
The North Carolina section of The American Association of Physics Teachers has a new, improved web site: www.physics.ncsu.edu/ncsaapt/
Take a look!
Got a spare refrigerator? The Graduate student offices in Daniels Hall could use a refrigerator. Donation of an old but useable unit would be greatly appreciated. Contact Jenny Allen at 513-2182.
