Major Project in Cox Starting in January. There is a major air handling system replacement project for Cox and Dabney Halls. Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2000, and the project should be completed in mid-December 2000. Included in the project are two, multi-day, complete (electrical and cooling water) shutdowns of Cox Hall. The schedule for these shut downs is not finalized at this time, although it is expected that the first will likely be during Spring break, and the second between graduation and the start of the First Summer Session. Occupants of the building will be notified once the schedule of the outages is finalized.
While there will be some inconvenience to all occupants of Cox Hall, and to a much lesser extent to the occupants of Dabney Hall, the project promises to solve the many AC/ventilation problems that have plagued the buildings for years.
School Visit: Willyetta Brown recently spoke to the 7th grade students enrolled in the AVID program at Paisley Math and Science Academy.
Fall 1999 Teaching Evaluations: The teaching evaluation summary for Fall 99 is below. The comment forms have been returned to the instructors. In looking over the written remarks, please remember there can be much of value in how the students have perceived the course and your instruction. However, do not overreact to
anonymous evaluations which in your opinion have no merit. And as always, immediately discard any evaluations which contain personal or otherwise inappropriate remarks. Because of the photocopying problem, over half of the opscan forms were not computer readable. To get a balanced estimate of the instruction, we therefore scored all yes/no questions (9, 18, 19) by hand. These hand totals were used to compute department wide and multiple section averages. Weighted scores are only for the courses which got correct evaluation forms: these are courses numbered 205 and below together with the first two sections of 208 and PY 401(501). Overall, the numbers look similar to previous years. Thanks to everyone for doing a great job in the classroom!
