Happy Birthday to John Blondin (10/29)
John Hubisz was interviewed on KMBZ in
Kansas City about security and safety at nuclear research reactors on college
campuses, a piece prompted by the ABC-TV report.
The University’s Open House
was held
at the Talley Student Center on Saturday, October 15th. This year seemed to have had the largest
number of prospective students attending than anytime in recent years. The Physics display was visited quite often,
with more than 100 copies of the recruiting brochure taken by students
expressing an interest in Physics.

display.

Professor Russell Philbrick of Penn State (an alumnus
of our department) will be visiting on sabbatical for the Spring semester.
Recycling bins are
changing.
The
office of recycling has developed a new, simplified recycling program.. There
will be only 3 types of bins, Cans and
Bottles, Mixed paper (magazines,
books etc), and Sorted Paper (white
and colored office paper) Look for the
new bins in the near future!

Buongiorno-Nardelli for a very successful workshop on “Nanotechnology for
Energy and Environment", held October 26, 2005 on NC State’s Centennial
Campus
This
workshop look at defining potential partnerships, within the University
and local community, who would support, contribute, and benefit from a
concerted effort within NC State to seek Center-level funding in the area
of nanotechnology for energy and environment applications.
