The 2003 L. H. Thomas Lecture,
"Time -- Its Miracles and Mysteries"
will be presented by Ahmed H. Zewail, Linus Pauling Chair Professor of Chemistry and Professor of Physics, California Institute of Technology. Nobel Laureate in Chemistry 1999
Ever since the beginning of history, humankind has been the benefactor of time's miracles. But at the same time people have been baffled by time's mysteries. In this lecture we will overview some aspects of time and history taking it from the calendars to the world of split-second, in a millionth of a billionth of a second. This freezing of time opens up new vistas in fundamental research and in applied technology.
The lecture will be Friday, October 31, at 3:00 p.m. in the Auditorium of Riddick Engineering Labs, (room 242). A reception in the Cox/Dabney auditorium lobby will immediately follow.
Please note the change in location of the lecture from previous years.
Please also note the change in the location of the reception from the original announcement.
