Purchasing at NCSU bookstore strongly discouraged.
Please refrain from going to the bookstore to purchase standard office supplies on department funds. We try to stock office supplies in the main office - including lab notebooks. If we don't have what you need we can order the items for you from the vendor. Prices are discounted through the university contract vendors.
We will not reimburse for standard items from the bookstore without prior approval.

Gandalf as Physics Teacher.
As part of nationwide search to try and find Britain's best physics teachers, the Institute of Physics asked students, teachers, and parents who they would choose if they could choose anyone to be their high school physics teacher.
The number one ideal physics teacher: the wizard Gandalf (J.R.R. Tolken's Lord of the Rings trilogy.) Among the runners-up were USS Enterprise Science Officer Mr. Spock (Star Trek) and the wizard Albus Dumbledore (Harry Potter series.) More information on the search and survey is available at the Institute of Physics website, www.iop.org.
